Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: - analyze the text, - communicate linguistically and stylistically correctly, - to interpret the stylistic teory and understand it, - to present a speech.
Syllabus
  • 1 Stylistics of a text and speech culture. Centre of a stylistic mistake; language, stylistic and communication norms. 2 A convenient choice of an expression, linguistic accuracy, and suitability of stylistics. 3 Marked and unmarked expressions. Stylistic values of the means of expression and their changes/transformations. 4 The most frequent stylistic errors and imperfections in our communications and their analyses. 5 Stylistic and compositional editing written texts including their transformations into a different communication sphere. 6 Undergraduates own production of texts according to the choice of stylistic forms of their own, procedures and topics evaluation of the texts.

Teaching methods: lektures, class discussion, problem method, controlled discussion.
Assessment methods
Subject is finished by credit. Credit requirements: submission of seminar paper. Stylistic analysis of the selected text - within the range of 2-3 pages.(Will be specified during teaching.)
