- Course objectives
- This course focuses on deepening what students already know in the area of English pronunciation. It also aims to prepare students for their complex exam - mainly in the area of listening and speaking.
- Syllabus
- 1. IPA and phonemes revision
- 2. Transcription practice - transcription, reading from transcription
- 3. "Problem" sounds practice: /th/, /v/ versus /w/, /ae/, /ng/, aspiration
- 4. Weak forms
- 5. Word stress: simple word stress, complex word stress, stress in compounds and phrases, noun stress versus verb stress
- 6. Pronunciation activities prepared by Ss
- 7. Sentence stress
- 8. Linking
- 9. Elision
- 10. Assimilation - progressive, regressive
- 11. Intonation
- 12. Intonation continued
- 13. Written credit test
