- Course objectives
- Students are acquainted with the determination of social education as the scientific discipline, with the basic development trends in this branch. Students are focusing on the social educational paradigm, on the influence of environment and education. They describe the actual problems of social education. At the end of this course students should understand the chosen aspects and possibilities of substitute family care, the institutional care, the students solve the problems in the context of family education as the primary socialization element. The other objectives can be summarized as follows: - the profession of social pedagogue, the character of his work activities and competences, the conditions for exercise of a profession and the possibilities of further use in profession. - penitentiary care, the helping professions, the exact determination of social pedagogue profession (including the emphasis of his competence)
- Syllabus
- The conceptions and the sources of social pedagogy as the independent scientific discipline, its relationship with relate subjects. The history of social pedagogy as the scientific discipline. The goals, the methods and the resources of social pedagogy. The role of education, socialization and cultivation of human being, its subjects and processes. The relation of environment and education, types of environment, so-called natural environment of education. The social aspects of family background, the disorders of family background. The substitute family care, definition, partigm, topical problems, legislative background. The institutional care, history and current situation. The teenagers as the specific group, the value orientation of present young generation. The social exclusion, the groups in risk (in light of social exclusion). The interrelationship between social pedagogy and social work. The profession of social pedagogue. The determination of roles of social worker and social pedagogue, the possibilities of their cooperation. The helping professions. The institutions with the social pedagogical care in the Czech Republic. Penitentiary care.
