Course objectives
The course objectives are to provide students with literary-theoretical essentials necessary for their own reception and intepretation of literature for young adults. Having met the course requirements, students will be able to apply the terminology of literary science.
Syllabus
  • 1. The basic concepts and bibliography concerning the subject. 2. The specific nature of literature for youth. 3. Literary categories, kinds and genres. 4. The process of literary communication, characters, author, narrator, addressee, recipient and their mutual relationships. 5. Language means of the literary text.

Teaching methods
Type of course: lecture. In the lectures, students learn and are informed about the terminology of the field of study and about the process of literary communication.
Assessment methods
Course requirements: examination. The examination consists of two parts, oral and written. The written part tests the essentials of the terminology of literary science (see examples in the IS) and is the prerequisite for the following - oral part of the examination which tests interpretational analysis of poetry and prose for children and young adults.
