Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: - to acquire basic understanding of rhetoric, - to prepare a speech in writing, - to present a speech, - communicate linguistically and stylistically correctly.
Syllabus
  • 1 Rhetorical principles in communication practice (esp. at schools) 2 Monologue and developing a dialogue, asking questions and giving proper arguments. 3 Stylistic preconditions of a successful public speech. 4 Competition of expressive rhetorical devices, communication based on aesthetic principles. 5 Theory of the rhetoric style. 6 The language used in rhetoric speeches (syntax, specific lexical features). 7 Practical exercises in rhetoric.
