- Course objectives
- Practice and fixation of printing and writing form of Russian alphabet, pronunciation, and intonation. Improvement of reading and listening skills, and basic oral and written expression. Introduction to new lexical stock and basics of Russian grammar. Work with audio and video tapes.

- Textbook "Ruština nejen pro samouky" (lessons 8 - 10). Topics: Introducing. Addressing. Greetings. How are you? Making a phone call. Daily routine. Do you speak Russian? Grammar: Conjugation. Future tense. Construction u menja jest. Cardinal numerals. Declension of Nouns - feminines. Special spelling exercises. "Davay" magazine - selected texts.

- Teaching methods
- Student must actively participate in the class, prepare regulary home assignments. Reading and listening russian texts.
- Assessment methods
- Seminar: Project – every student must hand in a project (in Russian) during his study. The topic can be chosen by the student according to his interests, but must be consulted beforehand. Written test based on the topics taught in the class. If the student reaches the pass mark in the written test, a discussion with the teacher will be held. The discussion will be based on the topics from the course, the reading (Russian book – 30 - 50 p.), the student will bring and show the book, and listening (audio, video, DVD). The correct grammar, content,vocabulary used, as well as pronunciation and intonation will be evaluated. The student will also provide a vocabulary exercise book, which will contain at least fifty new words.
