Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to provide a deeper insight into didactics of foreing languages as an independent scientific field and to introduce the underlying problems of foreign language teaching.
Syllabus
  • Didactics of Foreign Languages is a core subject of the didactic section and is the basis for a further choice of optional courses in this section. The aim of the subject is to provide a deeper insight into didactics of foreing languages as an independent scientific field and to introduce the underlying problems of foreign language teaching. The main idea is to define the subject and object of didactics of foreign languages, metadidactics and general didactics of foreign languages in a narrower sense in two perspectives: 1. diacronic - which focuses on the history of foreign language teaching and learning and on the development of general didactics of foreign languages; 2. synchronic - which deals with foreign language learning and teaching at a general level. Topics to cover: • defining terminology and subject of didactics of foreign languages, its structure, • auxiliary sciences of didactics of foreign languages, • theory of foreign language acquisition, • aims and content of foreign language learning and teaching, • methods of foreign language learnign and teaching in a broader and narrower sense, • principles of the contemporary intercultural-communicative method.
