Knowledge of basic concepts of socio-economic geography is assumed.

Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to gain basic knowledge of the geography of services (especially trade), transport and tourism.
Syllabus
  • 1. Geography of non-production sector and its position in system of geographical sciences.
  • 2. Geography of services - trade (with a focus on trends in retail).
  • 3. Geography of services - recent trends in retail.
  • 4. Geography of services - public and commercial services.
  • 5. Geography of transport - introduction, development, basic concepts.
  • 6. Geography of transport - the concept of transport costs.
  • 7. Geography of transport - types of transport.
  • 8. Geography of tourism - introduction, development of tourism geography. Classification of tourism.
  • 9. Geography of tourism - factors and assumptions for tourism development.
  • 10. Geography of tourism - approaches and methods of tourism analysis.
  • 11. Geography of tourism - international tourism.
