- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will be able to apply different methods and approaches in English language teaching (ELT). The aim of the course is to enable students to make informed decisions in selecting positive aspects of different methods and approaches and create their own eclectic approach to ELT.

- 1. Introduction, course requirements, presentations
- 2. Grammar-Translation Method, Direct Method
- 3. Audio-Lingual Method. The role of mother tongue in foreign language teaching
- 4. TPR, Suggestopedia
- 5. Communicative approach, Task-based learning, CLIL
- 6. Lexical approach, Corpora in ELT + Eclectic approach, post-method era, learner-centred approach.

- Assessment methods and criteria: 80% attendance (or a written test with 70% correct answers), active participation, all assignements as set, seminar work presentation, contributions in mood-link-a discussion forums, essay.
