Course objectives
The course provides an introduction to various sources of children's literature in English, stressing intentional literature for young readers.In the end of the course, the student should be able to find relevant sources of primary and secondary literature,explain what appeals to young readers, analyze selected texts, discuss their qualities, be aware of stereotypes in children's literature, and how to break them. It is expected that the student will be inspired to create book friendly environment in her/his classes.

  • 2. Storyelling, fairy tales and modern fairy tales.
  • 3. The best of the Golden Age of Children's literature.
  • 4. Picturebooks, comics and manga.
  • 5. Contemporary fiction and reading schemes.
