Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to introduce students to the basic features of literary-scientific methods, to their development and the way they get reflected in literary theory and criticism.

Teaching methods
In the form of lectures, students will get an insight into the use of literary-critical terminology and into the development of literary studies. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities of literary criticism in the period in question. They will use their knowledge gained not only in the contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Assessment methods
Type of course: lecture Credit requirements: active participation at lectures, knowledge of assigned literature; colloquium – discussion over the topics covered in the lectures, interpretation of extracts from the works of selected authors.
