Course objectives
The course Basic of Ecology and Environmental Sciences provides basic ecological and environmental knowledge and awareness to students with focus on global environmental problems. The course introduces students to the basic principles of ecology, such as the functioning of organisms in different conditions, the relationship between types of organisms, organization of organisms at different levels, energy aspects and more. On this basis the course forms an image of the nowaday world in relation to human activities and the mediated effects on the environment and other organisms. Solutions at both levels - organisms and local landscape, considering conservation principles and legal norms are discussed.
The goal is to discuss the ecological-environmental issues in relation to proffession needs of students. The goal is realized through learning of eco-environmental knowledge, skills and attitudes in a confrontation of this topic with specific jobs.
At the end of the course the student will know the basic ecological terms and concepts, will understand global environmental problems and will be familiar with issues of environmental education.
