Course objectives
The main objective is to improve the students' English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes will cover Units 1-2 in the coursebook New English File Advanced. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students.At the end of the course students should be able to understand how to present a topic of interest to them. They should be able to interpret texts of an advanced level and be able to respond to advanced-level input with a high level of accuracy.

Teaching methods
Students will take part in pair-work, group-work, class discussions and online forums and will be expected to give a presentation and write an assignment.
Assessment methods
The contunious assessment will consist of unit tests, one progress test and forum participation. (Recommended is one original entry and one response for each topic.) Students must also hand in one writing assignment and give one in-class oral presentation. Students must acquire a minimum of 70 percent from the final credit test. There will also be a final speaking test where students will present their portfolios and address a given topic. The speaking and the portfolios will be evaluated as a pass/fail.
