- Course objectives
- Through interpretational exercises students will be given an opportunity to learn about the ways of interpreting artistic texts of Czech literature of the 19th century. They will get an insight into basic trends and movements of Czech literature of the period in question, as well as into the specific nature of their poetics. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for that particular period. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively.

- Teaching methods
- Students will get an insight into basic trends and movements of Czech literature in the period in question, as well as into the specific nature of their poetics. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for that particular period. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively. They will creatively use their knowledge gained in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
- Assessment methods
- The course is completed by a credit. Students will present results of their work in written form (assignment), thus enhancing their individual style and the ability of critical thinking. The emphasis is put on student´s ability to evaluate a literary work, to compare it in the context of the current Czech and world literary production and to defend their views using precise terminology.
