- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- At the end of this course student will have the general knowledge of the basic grammar of Latine language; will be able to read and translate some easier historical sources from Latin to Czech; will have the good pronunciation of Latine idioms used in modern languages and in historical science
- Syllabus
- 1. Latin and the development of european civilisation. 2. The right pronunciation of Latin words. 3. Flexion of substantivs of I. decl. 4. Flexion of substantivs of II. decl. 5. Flexion of verbs of I. conjugation. 6. Flexion of verbs of II-IV conjugation. 7) Repetition. 8) The flexion of substabtivs of III. decl., part I. 9) The Flexion of substantivs of III. decl., part. II 10) The flexion of adverbs of III. decl. 11) The technique of translation from Latine to Czech. 12) Reading of easy Latin texts 13) Repetition

- lectures (1/2 hour per week), training of the grammar and the technique of translation (1/2 hour weekly), individual studies at home
- Assessment methods
- The Latin for Historians is needed regular homework, students draw two compulsory written homework, which are part of the final evaluation of the course. A student who has failed to develop domestic work, can not successfully complete the subject. It is intended compulsory attendance at lectures and in practice. Final evaluation of the course has a combined form - written work and oral presentation of a follow-up task. The student must obtain a minimum of 70% of the written work in order to proceed to oral exam. For successful completion of the course i need to get in oral examination at least 70% of the points.
