Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: - understand the main moral problems of modern society
Syllabus
  • 1. Postmodern pluralism, conflict of cultures in a multicultural society. 2. The ecological crisis in ethics. Anthropocentrism vs. Biocentrism. 3. Women's issues in the contemporary world. Feminism and Ecofeminism ethics of care. 4. Violence, terrorism and their legitimacy. 5. Political Ethics. 6. The problem of medical research. Bioethics. 7. Professional Ethics. 8. Freedom and human dignity, responsibility (Kant, Rawls, Fromm, Patocka - "live in truth" ...) 9. Transcendent Ethics - an appeal face (Levinas). 10. Discourse Ethics (Habermas). 11. Conscience and Integrity. 12. Legality, legitimacy - looking for stability. The Evil of Banality.
