- Course objectives
- At the end of this lecture student will be able to manage systeme of czech phonetics and phonology and its standard, cultured form and czech ortography. Student will be able to explain of the fundamental phonetic and phonemic concepts and terms. Student will understand the principles of orthophonic and orthoepic. Students will master the system of vowels and consonants, with the syllable structure, segmentation of the continuous speech and variants of the phonemes in the speech. Student will be familliar with phonetics differences in czech language in foreign words and will understand the similarities between sounds and written form of czech language.

- 1. Fundamental concepts of phonetic and phonology. 2. Orthophony and orthoepie. 3.Physiology and analyzes of speech. 4. Vowels, consonants, their articulation and clasification 5. Structure of speech.Differences in articulations in phonemes in continuous speech. 6.Phonetics of foreign words, pronunciation of foreign words. 7. Sound structure of czech language and its graphic record.

- Teaching methods
- A lecture combined with subsequent discussions on the professional issues of the course. The discussion will cover the topics listed in the syllabus.
- Assessment methods
- For a successful completion of the course, the students should complete a written test that will cover the topics discussed in the lectures. The test is scored. Students must obtain at least 70 % of points. The test will include (without theoretical topics) some ortographical tasks, phonetic transcription and clasification of Czech sounds.
