Course objectives
The course of social psychology is focused at forming fundamentals of socially-psychological thinking in the context of professions oriented at work with people. It reviews the theory of interpersonal interactions in macro- and micro-social space. It deals with socially-psychological aspects of pedagogical communication; it informs about the rules and conditions of adequate social perception and attribution; both of them in connection with cultivation and self-education possibilities. The second essential part is formed by psychology of group life; psychological aspects of a structure and dynamics of groups with respect to the specificity of various sorts of children and youth groups and various spheres of social life.
Syllabus
  • Lectures:
  • 1. & 2.: Social psychology - object of social psychology; the importance of studying social psychology for teachers and similar professions; Applied Social Psychology.
  • Humanization of man - socialization - psychological characteristics of the process of socialization of individuals; Products socialization.
  • Psychological characteristic of a social group with a focus on a small social group; features, attributes of social groups - the structure and dynamics of small social groups; gr. standards, goals and ways of achieving them; Team; team roles.
  • 3. & 4.: Social learning as a psychological mechanism of socialization; social reinforcement, imitation, identification; Conditions for an effectiveness of social learning.
  • Social personality traits - sociability - tolerance - social creativity - opinion and attitudes - relational attitudinal personality traits. Social intelligence.
  • 5. & 6.: Psychology of interpersonal interactions: essential features (relatedness, stimulation - social facilitation, interference); Criteria of interaction effect (activity level vicariousness, value); Types of synergy (coexistence, coordination, cooperation, rivalry, competition, reciprocity); some possibilities of psychological analysis of interpersonal relationships.
  • School class as a social group - family as social group - characteristic and psychological significance of free-time groups .
  • 7.& 8.: Communication - content; types and styles of communication; effective communication.
  • 9. & 10.: Perception and Attribution - sensitivity; situational awareness; shaping the image of another man, power of perception and assessment of another person; errors in perception; attributions, self-perception and self-esteem.
  • 11. & 12.: Conformity, influence of an authority, influence of social roles - famous experiments in social psychology.
  • 13.: Problematic, demanding and conflicting social situations (frustration - deprivation - Stress: socio-psychological aspect) conflict situations (intra- and intergroup conflicts, conflicts of roles; frustration as a social situation, frustration as a state (experience), the typical reaction of pupils frustration, frustration and stress situations, stress - social psychological perspective, frustration tolerance, social factors underlying resistance to stress and frustration, deprivation (social) - consequences.
