- Course objectives
- Having met the course requirements, students are able to understand tendencies of development of the world literature for young adults. They can use their knowledge in the process of teaching literary education. Students will be able to explain the development of literary trends and movements in the particular period of literature. They will be able to identify and analyse the style of outstanding literary personalities of the period. They will be able to interpret literary pieces as well as justify and support their views using their knowledge of literary studies.

- 1. The concept of world literature for youth, possibilities of study. International institutions and organizations dealing with literature for children and youth. 2. The contribution of the English and French Enlightenment to literature for youth. 3. Folk fairy tale in various national literatures, the development of artificial fairy tale in the 19th century. 4. Golden fund of world literature for children and youth and different interpretations of world literature for children and youth. 5. Chosen representants of world literature for children and youth in the 20th century (J.M. Barrie, A.A. Milne, A. de Saint-Exupéry, A. Lindgren, J. Kruss, T. Jansson, J. Gaarder, D. Almond).
