- Course objectives
- Main objective can be summarized as follows:
to learn basic knowledge of General Didactics of Chemistry;
to understand basic principles of teaching chemistry at Primary School;
to understand and analyse general regularities of Didactics of Chemistry;
to deduce possibilities of application didactic theories of chemistry into the practical teaching chemistry at the primary school; - Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be able to
- acquiring basic knowledge of general didactics of chemistry;
- Understanding the basic didactic principles of teaching the subject of chemistry at elementary school;
- Understanding and analyzing general patterns of chemistry didactics;
- deducting the possibilities of application of didactic theory of chemistry to the practical teaching of chemical subjects at elementary school. - Syllabus
- 1. Didactics of Chemistry as a science and its comparison with scientific and other fields.
- 2. Information - Communication - humanization in teaching chemistry.
- 3. Didactic basis and curriculum of chemistry at Primary School.
- 4. The educational system, its morphology and function and its universal application in all parts of chemistry. Professional teacher of chemistry, the role of teacher of chemistry.
- 5. Didactic principles and their application in the teaching chemistry.
- 6. Basic didactic function and their practical application in the teaching of chemistry. The sense of planning and mechanisms for its implementation. Motivation, as a permanent teacher’s activity, specificity and uniqueness of motivation in teaching chemistry.
- 7. Basic didactic function and their practical application in the teaching of chemistry. Communication in teaching chemistry and its specialities. Chemical language, visual communication with the participation of information technology, communication through the school chemical experiment. Management and control in teaching chemistry.
- 8. Parts of the chemical lesson and its filling.
- 9. System of management and decision-making in teaching chemistry, systemic and situational approach. Educational climate in the classroom, its production and cultivation.
- 10. Subject and object in the school chemical work, teaching and learning, competition and cooperation, the importance of the teamwork. The importance of balance of reproductive and productive pupil’s activities.
- 11. Knowledge base for teaching chemistry at the Primary School and its structuring. Standardization of chemical information, basic curriculum, invariants and variants. Structural line of the chemical curriculum. Compatibility of the chemical information at primary and secondary schools.
- 12. Cross-links and integration trends in the scientific subjects.
- 13. The possibilities and limitations of educational technology. Methods, forms and means, with an emphasis on video applications and computers in teaching chemistry.
- 14. Material and technical support for teaching chemistry. The principles of safe school work.
- 15. School chemical experiment, classification, application and didactic implications.
- 16. Types of lessons, their structuring and deployment. Application of the standard situations, identification, qualification and non-standard(unexpected, and the problem and conflict) situation in the teaching chemistry.
- 17. Problem’s methods in teaching chemistry. Student participation, the development of his creativity, imaginative approaches, imagination and fantasy.
- 18. Ecological activities in teaching chemistry at the Primary School.
