- Course objectives
- Students will be able to explain the development of literary trends and movements in the particular period of Czech literature. They will be able to identify and analyse the style of outstanding literary personalities of the period. They will be able to interpret literary pieces as well as justify and support their views using their knowledge of literary studies. The lecture in the form of selected topics covers the production in Czech literature between the years 1968-1989. The topics are organised into sections of poetry, prose and drama (enriched with insights into the literary studies of the period). Talking about poetry and prose, the emphasis is put on the samizdat and exile literature, including a brief outline of so-called official production. The section of drama uses a monographical method, while the continuity of the literary process is followed through the similarity in themes of some of the works created in the studied period. Students will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for that particular period.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently.
