- Course objectives
- After successful completion of this course the student will - be familiar with basic information from the education of the students with visual impairments with regards to counselling and intervention strategies used with children, students and people with visual impairments - acquire knowledge of the functional effects of the eye diseases and their impact on everyday life - know the differences of the severity of the visual impairments in people - low vision and blindness, partial sight - be familiar with the educational and intervention system of visually impaired people - focus on the intervention strategies of the skills of persons with visual impairment - know the practices of crisis intervention and strategies for coping with critical life situtaions, family counselling
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be familiar with basic information from the education of the students with visual impairments with regards to counselling and intervention strategies used with children, students and people with visual impairments / acquire knowledge of the functional effects of the eye diseases and their impact on everyday life / know the differences of the severity of the visual impairments in people / low vision and blindness, partial sight / be familiar with the educational and intervention system of visually impaired people / focus on the intervention strategies of the skills of persons with visual impairment

- 1. Theoretical paradigms of the education of the visually impaired peersons. 2. School and social counselling for children, students and adults with visual impairments. 3. Access to information, aids and assistive technologies for people with visual impairments. 4. Communication with persons with visual impairments, guide techniques. 5. Early intervention for families with children with visual impairements. 6. Resource centres of special educational support. 7. Organization of social counselling and social rehabilitation for people with visual impairments. 8. Vocational rehabilitation for people with visual impairment. 9. Identification and removal of barriers in public space 10.Visual impairment as a critical life situation for a person and his family. 11. The aspects of counsellihng - crisis intervention, work with client in social services, the personality of the counsellor, counselling techniques
