Course objectives
The lectures will through selected chapters discuss the issues of Czech literature between the years 1969 and 1989. Chapters will be sorted into blocks of poetry, prose and drama (complete with insight into contemporary literary studies). Poetry and prose will focus on the samizdat and exile production, while also mentioning the production of the so-called official literature. The block of drama will again be presented through monographic method, while the continuity of the literary process will be provided through emphasizing thematic connections of some works in the given period. Students will acquire knowledge of the trends of Czech literature during the postwar period. They will strive to deepen their knowledge regarding literary studies and improve their abilities in order to communicate with a literary work more effectively.
