- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to provide basic knowledge about the syntax of the Russian language. The attention is focused on the construction of simple sentences, compound and complex sentences in a comprataive Russian-Czech aspect.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the student will be able to describe the syntactic system of contemporary Russian; to explain the differences in the structure of simple and compound sentences in Russian and Czech; to apply the knowledge practically; to improve in written and oral speech.
- Syllabus
- The subject of syntax. Syntactical units and their relations in sentence.
- Classification of sentence: positive and negative sentences, communicative types of sentences.
- Main sentence elements. Subject and predicate.
- Secondary parts of the sentence: attribute and apposition.
- Object. Direct and indirect object. Complement.
- Adverbials and ways to express the adverbials.
- One-element and two-element sentences (minor and major clauses).
- Compound and Complex sentences. General characteristics.
- Compound sentence. Classification.
- Complex sentence. Classification.
- Asyndetical sentence. Sentences with different types of syntactic connection.
- The main differences in the syntactic system of Russian and Czech.
