Course objectives
The goal of the course is to develop written and verbal communication skills, to deepen knowledge of Russian language on the lexical and grammatical aspects.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to discuss the conversational topics; to express their views with using a new vocabulary; to apply grammatical and stylistic knowledge of the Russian language in written and verbal communication.

  • Topics:
  • 1.-2. Mass-media: influence on contemporary society. Irregular gradation of adjectives and adverbs.
  • 3.-4. Variability mods. Expressing modality.
  • 5.-6. Non-verbal communication in an intercultural context. Facial expressions and gestures in different ethnic groups.
  • 7.-8. Business: the Way to Success? Abbreviations in Russian.
  • 9.-10. Globalization: for and against. Naming the extension type in Russian.
  • 11.-12. State and state system. Repetition.
