- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to know the basic information about pedagogy of visually impaired. At the end of the course students should understand and work with information on: Classification of visual impairment, occurrence and causes, children with low vision, partially sighted, blind children, children with multiple disabilities, deafblind children, system of education, types of schools for students with visual impairment, counselling and social services, technical aids, visual stimulation, mobility, guide dogs.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to: - use the basic terminology and classification of visual impairment - to describe a counseling system for the visually impaired with a focus on early and school age and on adulthood - to focus on basic aids and measures that are used by people with visual impairments in the field of education and everyday life - to describe the influence of severe visual impairment on human personality in psychological processes and to understand the issue of multiple disability

- 1. Basic terminology. The history of support of visually impaired people in and around the world. 2. Anatomy of eye. 3. Physiology of the vision process. Development of visual perception. Basic examination of visual functions. 4. Basic pathology of vision in childhood and adulthood. Speech defects. 5. Technical aids for the visually impaired and blind. 6. Early intervention - the theoretical basis of early care, forms and services of.Centers (Clients and Services) 7. Personality of a visually impaired person. (Perception, thinking, attention, behavior, speech). Psychomotor development of a visually impaired child. 8. Visually impaired child at pre-school age (pre-school education of the sight of the affected child, child with disturbed binocular vision and reeducation of these defects) 9. The system of education of pupils with visual impairments in the Czech Republic. Education of pupils with a visual impairment. Braille. 10. Multiple disabilities. 11.
