- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to enable an insight into foreign language didactics as an independent discipline and understand complex issues related to foreign language teaching.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, a student will be able to:
explain the development of aims, content and methods of foreign language teaching;
explain the current approach to foreign language teaching;
outline the didactic basis of their dissertation research. - Syllabus
- The focus is on the definition of foreign language didactics in two ways: 1. diachronic, which focuses on the development of approaches and methods in foreign language teaching and learning 2. synchronic, which deals with current approaches to foreign language teaching and learning. Main topics:
- Concepts and objects of foreign language didactics, its structure.
- Methods and approaches to foreign language teaching.
- Characteristic features of post-communicative era in foreign language teaching.
- Research in foreign language didactics.
