Course objectives
Absolvents will know contemporary reflexion of composers whose works we use during educational practise commonly and of sources of today information search. Explaining of basic methodical orders in music education during history and their contemporary reflection is accent. Among other things, this course is focused on understanding of changes in music paradigm and acquaint students with basic methodological concepts. Introduction of an important personalities of Czech and world music historiography is also part of this course.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the students are able
- to reflect an evolution of great composer’s musical thinking
- to evaluate critically music materials using in their pedagogical praxis
- to inspect a relevancy of contemporary sources for their pedagogical praxis
- to propose relevancy music sources during their pedagogical praxis
- to explain methodological and historical reflexion of musical periods
- to identify basic methodological opinions of important personalities of humanities
- to understand today’s trends in music education in the context of its own evolution
- to apply theoretic concepts during analysing of professional works

  • Terms paradigm, method, methodics, methodology
  • The paradigm of positivism and of the "Geisteswissenschaft", hermeneutical, semiotical, anthropological and structuralist paradigm, the reception history and cultural theory
  • Definition of the term music historiography
  • Contemporary reflexion of composers
  • Anthology of great composer’s works, critical editions, memories
  • Research on the actual condition of important music personalities
