- Course objectives
- The aim is to deepen theoretical linguistic basis. Students improve one's knowledge of linguistics, students will use these knowledge in one's study. The main task of the course is also to acquaint students with the linguistic terminology and terms, with the essential requirements imposed on scientific research, standards and rules for the formal editing of the scientific text.
- Learning outcomes
- Students:
- acquire the professional Russian-Czech terminology,
- have a broad theoretical basis in the fields of linguistics,
- can apply theoretical knowledge of linguistics at practical examples. - Syllabus
- 1. Linguistics. The subject matter of linguistics. The place of linguistics in the system of science. Basic linguistic fields. Linguistics in relation to other branches of science.
- 2. Formation and development of language. Theory of formation and development of language. Ontogenesis and phylogenesis of language.
- 3. Classification of the world's languages. Genetic classification, typological classification, geographical classification and sociolinguistic classification. Basic parameters for differentiation of languages.
- 4. Russian and Czech as Slavic languages.
- 5. Language and human society. Language as a social phenomenon. Standards in human society, language standards. Spoken a written language usage, language codification.
- 6. Language and communication. Ostension, sign (definition and classification of signs from Ch. S. Peirce, definition of signs from F. de Saussure). Semiotics.
- 7. Language system. De Saussure's terms "langue, parole, langage". Language system in structuralism. Syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations.
- 8. Phonetics and phonology. Basic phonological terms, prosodic language resources. Transcription and transliteration.
- 9. Morphematic and morphology. Grammatical categories of nouns and verbs.
- 10. Lexicology. Lexical system of language. Basic linguistic fields that deal with the vocabulary.
- 11. Syntax. Basic syntactic units. Syntactic relations. Sentences, classification of sentences.
- 12. Textual level. Cohesion and coherence. Functional sentence perspective (FSP). An utterance.

1. Written translation of linguistic terminology (from Czech to Russian). List of terms in available in IS MU.
2. Oral answer to a question. List of questions is avialable in IS MU. The list of questions is includes all topics from introduction to Russian study 1 (lectures). - Language of instruction
