- Course objectives
- Due to its complexity, the subject of ceramic creation is used in the teaching of all classical techniques of free art, such as drawing, painting and modeling; therefore, it exercises area and spatial vision and feeling. It works with ceramic matter classically and experimentally, in all its states, for example by creating objects, vessels, sculptures, installations in space, etc. At the same time, the study acquaints students with technologies and craftsmanship with ceramic creation connected all this in connection with the visual art of the 20th century to the present. The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of ceramics in the field of free art and design, which can be used for later application in art pedagogical practice and for further art education.
- Learning outcomes
- Based on the semester assignments, the student gets acquainted with the theoretical and practical part of the task in the form of consultations and workshops by the teacher. The assignment is discussed in the introductory hours in the smallest details, followed by a search for a topic in the field of contemporary visual art; joint consultation on sketches, further individual consultation. The structure of individual topics consists of two parts. The first output is always a real sketch, shape, container, object or installation in the material. In the second part, students they transform their concept in a visual form, for example as an action, process, etc., which they record in photo documentation or video. On the basis of the acquired knowledge, useful objects are subsequently created created by classical craft techniques - for example, rotation on a potter's wheel, casting, but also photo records of the process or events in the exterior or interior. The aim of the teacher is to achieve a shift in each student from a mastered craft to a personal expression.
