- Course objectives
- Introduction to music acoustics, systems of tuning. Scales - system, developement / ancient, medieval, church styles, major and minor, chromatic, pentatonic, whole tone, gypsy /. Intervals. Chords - fifth chords, seventh chords, chord changes. Practical application of all theoretical knowledge. At the end of this course students will be able to understand music from the theoretic point of view.
- Learning outcomes
- The Student knows scales, intervals, chords, Italian musical terminology, is a basic overview of the history of music.
- Syllabus
- Attributes of tone; notation system - signs, transcription, keys, marks for tone quality. Scales - diatonic, chromathic, ancient church modes, whole-tone, pentatonic ones. System of major and minor scales. Orientation in major and minor scales, finding of characteristic intervals, construction of upper and lower basic and derivated intervals, construction of fifth-chords and their turns, construction of seventh-chords and their turns according to guitar and functional marks; construction of cadences in major and minor keys; Italian terminology (tempo, expression, dynamics and agogics). Basic orientation in music history.
