Course objectives
Creation of system of skills and habits in singing technique. Methodical basis for pedagogical work with child and adult voice. Study materials - czech folk songs, child songs, czech and world nonartificial and artificial music. At the end of this course student should be able to play the piano and sing vocal technique exercises simultaneously and must be able to apply theoretical and practical knowledge in singing technique to his repertoire.

Syllabus
  • Introduction. Choosing literature to study. Singing posture. Setting the correct posture. Types of breathing. Breathing exercises. Practice of the costal-diaphragm breathing. Voice onsets. Practice of the soft voice onset. Exercises to start a tone of the head register. Breathing, articulatory and vocal exercises for improving singing technique of adults. Work with registers. Stabilization and extending the vocal range. Practising the voice technique by singing folk songs. Work with children’s song literature. Information about hygiene of speaking and singing voice of children. Practising repertoire – folk songs, musicals, artificial songs etc.

Assessment methods
Type: Exercises. Credit: Transposition of various types of voice exercises with own piano accompaniment in diatonic and chromatic scale. Practical vocal presentation of 20 compulsory songs with own piano accompaniment. Basic knowledge of the voice hygiene. Full attendance is necessary for giving course-unit credit.
