- Course objectives
- Introduction to music acoustics, systems of tuning. Scales - system, developement / ancient, medieval, church styles, major and minor, chromatic, pentatonic, whole tone, gypsy /. Intervals. Chords - fifth chords, seventh chords, chord changes. At the end of this course the students should be able to applicate all theoretical knowledge in practice.
- Learning outcomes
- The Student knows scales, intervals, chords, Italian musical terminology, is a basic overview of the history of music.
- Syllabus
- Attributes of tone; notation system - signs, transcription, keys, marks for tone quality. Scales - diatonic, chromathic, ancient church modes, whole-tone, pentatonic ones. Fourth- and fifth- system of major and minor scales. Orientation in major and minor scales, finding of characteristic intervals, construction of upper and lower basic and derivated intervals, construction of fifth-chords and their turns, construction of seventh-chords and their turns according to guitar and functional marks; construction of cadences in major and minor keys; Italian terminology (tempo, expression, dynamics and agogics).
