Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the subject is to acquaint the students with the problems of balbutology with regard to the impacts of this form of disrupted communication skills on the human life. At the end of the subject the student will know the etiopathogenetic model of stuttering, its classification, will be detailed with individual manifestations of balbuties, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. The course reflects the current concept of speech therapy focused on all target groups in terms of age.
Learning outcomes
The student is oriented in individual manifestations of balbuties; understands specific speech intervention in children, pupils, adults with stuttering; knows diagnostic and therapeutic approaches used in Czech and foreign logopedic practice; can think of material to develop the communication skills of people with stuttering.

  • Current concept of balbutology.
  • Physiological dysfluence.
  • Etiopathogenesis of stuttering.
  • Stomach syndromes.
  • Incipient stuttering.
  • Fixed stuttering.
  • Chronic stuttering.
  • Diagnostic materials in Czech and foreign practice.
  • Therapeutic programs and approaches to children / pupils / adults with stuttering.
  • Specifics of logopedic intervention in people with stuttering.
