Course objectives
The aim of the course is to get acquainted with the field of education of visually impaired at bachelor level, from the definition of the field and its interdisciplinary position to support and counseling for people with visual impairment of different age groups. We will also focus on the education system of this target group in our country and on their specific measures and support in early, preschool and school age.
Learning outcomes
Students should be able to:
- Determine visual impairment, occurrence and causes, combined disability, peculiarities of psychological processes and personality development in visually impaired people;
- to know the specifics of a child with visual impairment in early, preschool and school age, counseling and intervention;
- to understand the education system for the visually impaired in our country, to know the technical aids and equipment, the role of special pedagogical centers;
Syllabus
  • Special education of visually impaired - definition of the field, history of support for visually impaired people in our country and abroad, interdisciplinary cooperation.
  • The target group - visually impaired people. The influence of visual impairment on the individual's personality and on selected mental processes (perception, thinking, attention, behavior, speech). Psychomotor development of a child with severe visual impairment and multiple disability.
  • Selected visual problems - Symptomatology in the context of influencing quality of life.
  • Early intervention - an early child with visual and multiple disabilities - needs, specifics of support and intervention, services provided.
  • A child with visual impairment in preschool age, a child with impaired binocular vision and reeducation. Support and intervention.
  • A visually impaired child of school age. Special educational needs of a visually impaired pupil. Support, advice and intervention.
