Course objectives
This course will review the background and development of teaching English to Young Learners(TEYL). The participants will analyse the YLs needs and they will suggest and examine appropriate approaches to TEYL. They will also explore, evaluate and adapt methodology and materials used for teaching YLs. They will review methods of evaluation and assessment suitable for YLs.
Aims:
to raise students awareness of basic principles of TEYL
to design a series of lessons based on a topic, story or activity
to present a project in English
to use varied assessment tools
Learning outcomes
Students will be acquainted with different methods and approaches in TEYL that respect young learners' needs and are able to apply them in their teaching. Students understand and apply long term planning and its principles based on coursebooks and other materials that develop communicative competence of the learners Students will be able to analyze and reflect on their teaching in individual lessons and longer periods, they know and use different ways of evaluation in order to gain information about their pupils' language development including their colleagues' feedback. Students know how to give and get feedback and how to motivate their pupils in foreign language learning.

Project and colloquy
Two week teaching sequence (with lesson plans) using one of the three approaches (topic, story,activity based or CLIL)
Presentation in the session with a 5 minute microteaching slot
Students have to achieve minimum 70 pts.
