Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the students will apply the basic principles of winter sports activities and alpine skiing, and be capable of using these principles in winter schools or winter physical activity during PE lessons in the 1st stage of elementary school. Upon completion of the course the students will understand and be able to make use of healthy, efficient and environment-friendly stays in nature with a focus on specific health-preventive activities used in winter schools.
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to understand, explain and use the knowledge of outdoor tourism and stays in winter nature with a focus on health supporting physical activity. In a suitable way, the course combines individual topics by means of field education. The students will learn to organize contests and games. The students will be able to use the knowledge of unconventional games in winter nature learned during the course.
Syllabus
  • 1. Safety, first aid and principles of good conduct in winter nature and on skiing slopes. 2-8. Practical part. Methodology of the basics of downhill movement and turning on skis adapted for younger school-aged children with respect to their physical skills. 9-11. Health supporting physical activity and games in the snow (downhill movement and turning on a sledge, snow tubing, snow sculpting, building igloos, physical games in the snow). 12. Organization of trips in winter nature.
