Course objectives
The subject is focused on approaches to students with specific learning disabilities (SLD). It targets the possibilities of remediation, education and appropriate didactics in education of students with SLD. Students will be familiarized with the definition of the SLD and its classification. Furthermore, students will be introduced into contemporary teaching methods in education of students with SLD, supportive measures used in connection with SLD and remediation care.
Learning outcomes
Student will acquire basic skills in appropriate educational methods and remediation of students with specific learning disabilities. Student will be familiarized with contemporary approaches in education of students with specific learning disabilities. Student will be able to suggest adequate supportive measures taken in students with specific learning disabilities based on acquired knowledge.
Syllabus
  • The subject define aspects of specific learning disabilities. It targets the possibilities of remediation, education and appropriate didactics in education of students with SLD. Specific learning disabilities - terminology, aetiology, symptoms, diagnostics. Weakened aspects in the development of central nervous system and sensory fucntions significant at primary education (reading, writing, calculating), remediation care, remediation methods for individuals with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia. Compensatory aids. Personality of individual with SLD in grammar school and in the adulthood. The issue of education of students with SLD in grammar schools and adults with specific learning disabilities.
