- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic literary theory and teach them how to use its tools when reading and/or discussing literature. This approach aims at helping students understand literary texts on a deeper level and supports greater enjoyment of reading. For future teachers, this enables the students to talk precisely and knowledgeably about important cultural material. It equips them with the language necessary for an informed conversation and questions that may arise in the classroom during language classes. It not only focuses on the practical application of the theory on the texts we encounter in our lives, but it also links literary texts to its wider socio-cultural context pointing towards mutual influences.
