- Course objectives
- The course is focused on broadening of the knowledge regarding the Czech literature of the 19th century in the European context. Based on the analyses of selected works an, it uses seminary work to introduce social and literary reception of other nations and literary movements in the given period.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, students will be able to:
- characterize individual eras of the development of Czech literature in the given era;
- describe the connections between cultural and political development in the Czech lands and in Europe;
- interpret literary texts in the context of national matters;
- analyze contemporary stereotypes when portraying other nationalities;
- create an expert text on researched topic. - Syllabus

Slovakia and the Czech literature. 8. Russia and the Czech literature. 9. Inspirations by other european cultures. 10. Travel literature. 11. Translation reflection. 12. Conclusion: the image of other nations in the Czech literature of the 19th century.

- Teaching methods
- After completing the course, the student can understand and reflect on the cultural situation of the Czech literature in the 19th century and its connection to neighboring nations, as reflected in the influential works of the contemporary literature. Moreover, they develop their knowledge of the literary science, and their interpretative abilities in order to communicate with the literary work more effectively.

- Seminar classes. Seminary work must be submitted in order to successfuly complete the course.
