Course objectives
The course focuses on the orientation of students in areas related to economic and financial processes taking place in the economic environment around them. The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge, skills and value attitudes necessary for the student to understand the need to financially secure themselves and their family in contemporary society and actively participate in the market of financial products and services. It deepens the understanding of money and pricing, the ability to manage personal and family budgets responsibly, including the management of financial assets and financial liabilities in the face of changing life situations. It also acquaints students with the issue of financial literacy from the perspective of state and public institutions, ie the activities of state and public administration in the area of ​​state analysis, support for development and implementation of the issue in education and the educational process; even in comparison with abroad.

Knowledge: theoretical background of components of financial literacy and construction of financial products
Skills: possibilities of using individual financial products, their evaluation and utilization
Attitudes: ability to seek and evaluate relevant information on financial products and other areas related to economic and financial processes throughout life
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to define personal and family finances, be familiar with the basic concepts related to financial products and will be able to explain financial decisions in the context of economic and financial processes.

  • 4) Budget literacy and asset management.
  • 5) Numerical literacy and its application on examples.
  • 6) Legal and information literacy.
  • 7) Current state of financial literacy in the Czech Republic.
  • 8) Financial literacy and education.
  • 9) Financial literacy in the teaching process.
  • 10) Developing financial literacy through games.
  • 11) Solving life situations.
  • 12) Personal experience in financial literacy.

Teaching methods
The course consists of lectures, discussions, solving examples and financial and economic games.
Assessment methods
The course ends by an oral examination with an emphasis on the student's ability to orientate in the given topic and to argue in context.
