Course objectives
The goal of the course is to allow the student to: • understand the nature of the institutions and to distinguish them from organizations • comprehend the historical foundations of institutions • think about the school and the family as a dynamic system changing in relation to the changes of social conditions • understand the impact of globalization on the process of reproduction of education
Learning outcomes
• to understand the nature of the institutions and distinguish them from organizations • to understand the historical anchoring of institutions • to consider school and family as dynamic systems changing in relation to changing social conditions • to understand the impact of globalization on the process of reproduction of education • to analyze current events in the school policy of the state on the basis of acquired knowledge
Syllabus
  • 1) Modernism and institutions, late modernism and institutions. 2) Transformations of the forms and functions of the family in the 20th and 21st century. 3) Changes of the school functions: school as a means of national homogenization and school as homogeneity on the basis of nationality. 4) Transformation of the school function: The challenge of globalization, new ethnicization of the school. 5) Reproduction of education and the challenge of globalization: School in the 21st century. 6) Ethnicization and universalism in socializing and educational institutions. 7) Transfer of cultural capital and contemporary society.
