Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able:
to summarize the determinants of selected woody plants
to recognize selected woody plants based on foliage, buds, cones / fruits and seeds
to determine woody plant with the use of a determination key
to determine if by selected taxa is a native or non-native taxon
to decide whether woody plant is among the specially protected species
to observate the selected woody plant in long-term
to itnterpret the results of long-term observation of the woody plant
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able:
- to observate the woody plant in long term
- to create a record from observation and take photo documentation
- to formulate the conclusions from observation
- to determine taxa using of determination aids
- to recognize selected woody plants taxa at different seasons
- to recognize selected woody plants taxa based on various characters (buds, twigs, leaves, flowers / inflorescences, cones / fruits and seeds)
- to determine originality of selected woody plants in the Czech Republic
- to assess, if the selected woody plants belongs to specially protected species

Form of teaching: mass - frontal; mass - stand-alone work; Group-homogeneous, group-heterogeneous. Teaching methods: lecture, explanation, work with literature, work with determination keyy, work with determination atlas, observation.
Assessment methods
Assessment methods: Seminar work, Practical exam (cognition of trees)
Fulfilling reqirements: - attendance at exercises: at least 80% (ie 10 lessons) - seminar work: the student observes the selected deciduous woody plant for 3 months and presents the results of his observation based on his own photographic documentation in written form - practical exam: identifying of woody taxa presented at exercises; It is necessary to identify at least 9 out of 12 items submitted (there are presented approximately 110 taxa of woody plants at lessons )
