- Course objectives
- Student is able to apply chosen rights in the field of private law, including consumer rights, Clarify the importance of the legal regulation of important relationships - ownership, contract law, marriage law. Performs simple legal actions and understands their consequences; it focuses on selected contracts governing civil relations - buying, building, donating or renting. These things are then able to pass on to their students.
- Learning outcomes
- A student will be able to understand the basics of civil law and will be well informed about law in everyday life situations. The student will be able to exercise his/her consumer rights, especially in relation to contracts of sale and transport, then will be able to draw up a power of attorney, will be able to apply for compensation for damages. They will also be able to understand the obligations associated with marriage and divorce and to distinguish between community and separate property. The student will also understand the basics of inheritance law. He/she will also learn about the employment contract and his/her rights and obligations in employment. Last but not least, the student will be able to recognise unlawful conduct with overlaps into administrative and criminal law.
- Syllabus
- 1. Civil Law - Introduction. Neighbour disputes. Power of attorney. 2. Consumer law. 3. Private international law - relations with a cross-border element. 4. Family law - relations between parents and children. 5. Inheritance law - will, contract, intestate succession. The course of inheritance proceedings. 6. Employment law - employment contract, employee's rights. 7. "School law". Teacher's liability for the actions of pupils/students. 8. Excursion into criminal law - crime, punishment, prisons, criminalistics.

- Teaching methods
- Seminar, active participation. STUDENTS WITH ISP PERMISSION: The nature of the course (as an upper-division, elective course) makes it difficult for ISP students to participate. However, if the plan is granted, credit will be given for the completion of 75% of the examples that are addressed in the seminars during the full-time classes.
