Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with other aspects of the development of intercultural communication competence of primary school pupils in the teaching of RJ:
- with the methodology of teaching mediation;
- with the methodology of teaching the history, reality and culture of Russia.
Another goal is to study:
- methods of motivating pupils to learn a foreign language,
- the principles of checking students' knowledge and skills with regard to the development of intercultural communication competence in RJ and the provision of corrective feedback, - principles of (self)reflection of teaching.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- to master the principles of developing pupils' mediation skills;
- propose an exercise for teaching history, culture and reality in RJ classes at lower-secondary schools;
- apply the principles of control and evaluation of the results of RJ teaching at lower-secondary schools to provide teachers with corrective feedback and motivate pupils to learn RJ;
- know the principles of (self)reflection of teaching.
Syllabus
  • 1. Mediation as a communication skill. Development of mediation skills in Russian language teaching.
  • 2. Teaching the history, realities and culture of Russia in Russian language classes at lower-secondary schools.
  • 3. Control and evaluation in Russian language teaching; their types, goals and assessment principles.
  • 4. Corrective feedback in Russian language teaching: types, principles and specifics of providing.
  • 5. Motivation to learn a foreign language. Development of learning strategies and support of learners' autonomy.
  • 6. Reflection of teaching.
