Prerequisites
A prerequisite is the basic orientation in the field of speech and language therapy, a good orientation in the education system, pupils with impaired communication ability, including educational programs.

Course objectives
The student will acquire practical knowledge of the aspects of impaired communication skills, taking into account available Czech and foreign diagnostic batteries and selected methods of interventions and therapies. Knowledge is distributed taking into account the child and adult population. The student will also try to effectively search for suitable foreign sources and passively analyze video recordings and audio recordings related to communication and speech therapy. Another goal of the course is active work in smaller groups or in pairs, appropriately discussing the given issue and actively reacting during video analysis, etc.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to search for foreign articles and other professional resources, actively work with these resources and use them during teaching. Furthermore, the student will be able to analyze video recordings and audio recordings in a foreign language. The student will be introduced to information about impaired communication skills from the point of view of diagnosis and therapy, which will suitably complement the already loaded knowledge and knowledge from previous lessons.
Syllabus
  • structure of a child's speech and language development,
  • suitable diagnostic and intervention methods for clients with neurodevelopmental disorders,
  • suitable diagnostic and intervention methods for clients with pervasive disorders,
  • suitable diagnostic and intervention methods for patients with aphasia, dysarthria and dysphagia,
  • proposal of suitable support measures for pupils with impaired communication ability in kindergartens and primary schools,
  • analysis of video recordings of clients with impaired communication ability,
  • AAC practical exam,
  • practical exam: Token test, drawing analysis, MAST, phonemic hearing evaluation, etc.
