Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive insight into the issue of education of pupils with specific learning disabilities. Within the course, students are introduced to the basic context of the assessment, counselling and intervention in the target group. Attention is paid to the process of education and its conditions in the context of lifelong learning. Furthermore, students are acquainted with special pedagogical procedures applied in the context of remediation of specific learning disabilities.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: propose appropriate supportive measures relating to the general conditions for the education of students with specific learning disabilities in common classes; design appropriate procedures in remediation care of students with specific learning disabilities
Syllabus
  • Basic characteristics of special pedagogical care (remediation) in pupils with SLD. Special methods (procedures, aids) focused on visual and auditory perception, development of motor skills, orientation in space, speech development. Special methods (procedures, aids) aimed at remediation of dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysortography, dyscalculia, dyspraxia. Use of remediation methods in pedagogical practice of nursery, primary and secondary schools. Specific learning disabilities in the context of lifelong learning and employment.

interactive seminar, discussion, individual/group work, practical examples
Assessment methods
For successful completion following requirements are set: 1. Fullfil the semestral task given by teacher 2. Active participation on lectures and at least 80 % attendance 3. Exam - Written test. Student needs 70 % of correct answer to pass.
