- Course objectives
- The graduate of the course will be familiar with the current aspects of speech ontogenesis and language skills, will be acquainted with the importance of early diagnosis of speech development and language abilities in children with identifiable and potentially identifiable risk, the most common types of impaired communication skills in pre-school children. They will be able to practically apply procedures in influencing the development of communication skills of children of early and pre-school age.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will acquire theoretical knowledge concerning the development of speech and language abilities in pre-school age; will be oriented in the most common types of impaired communication abilities that may occur in pre-school children; He / she will acquire skills in effective strategies used to develop the communication skills of children in early and pre-school age.
- Syllabus
- Basic attributes of language and speech, verbal communication, nonverbal communication. Contemporary aspects of speech ontogenesis and language skills, theory of language development. Characteristics of language levels (lexical-semantic, morphological-syntactic, phonetic-phonological, pragmatic). Early speech therapy intervention; early diagnosis of speech and language development. Training to use effective communication strategies to develop speech and language skills. Children with an identifiable and potentially identifiable risk of developing communication skills. Disturbed speech development - classification, characteristics. Specifically disturbed speech development. Delays in the development of speech and language skills, the possibility of influencing children's communication skills, cooperation with parents. Disorders of Articulation - Dyslalia, Dysarthria, Specifics of Approach to Children with Articulation Disorders. Disorders of fluency and pace of speech, specifics of approach to children with stuttering and wheezing. Disturbances of speech sound - buzziness, palatolalie. Specifics of access to children with speech disorders. (S) Elective mutism - definition, characteristics, speech therapy intervention. Specifics of approach to children with mutism. Practical exercises with tools to develop communication skills of preschool children.
