- Course objectives
- After graduating the course, the student should be familiar with basic legal issues related to preschool children, preschool education and the managing of kindergarten.
- Learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is, after the necessary orientation in basic legal concepts and the legal system, to develop the basic awareness of the legal aspects related to kindergarten (legal school regulation, legal form, admission procedure to kindergarten, position of the headmaster, financing of kindergarten, hygiene and health regulations, basics of labour law, qualifications of teacher, protection of the child's private personality) and issues related to preschool children (basics of family law, relations between parents and children, crimes in relation to children).
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to law. Basic concepts from the theory of law. Law and morality/ethics. Sources of law. Legal order of the Czech Republic. 2. Private and public law - basic characteristics of legal branches. 3. Resolution of disputes in law. System of courts. Law professions. 4. Legal aspects of kindergartens - legal regulation, division of kindergartens, documentation. 5. Pre-school education (RVP). 6. Legal aspects of admission to kindergartens. Status of the headmaster, judicial review of the headmaster's decision. 7. Hygiene and health regulations. 8. Financing of kindergartens, budget, management of entrusted property. 9. Teacher's responsibility for children 10. Labour law - employer, employee and their rights and obligations. Legal aspects of teacher qualifications. 11. Other selected legal issues - protection of children's personal data, cooperation with other authorities, , child's interest in law. 12. Family law - status issues (marriage, establishment and denial of paternity, adoption, guardianship, etc.) 13. Criminal law - crime and offences in relation to children. Specifics of court proceedings in children's cases.
