Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the set of knowledge and skills of students acquired in the previous study of Pre-school Education. Students will deeper understand topics such as contemporary social concept of education, antipedagogical trends in society, actual research in pre-primary pedagogy, cooperation with school and family, issues of education of children under three years, evaluation in education, etc.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: characterize the current concept of education in society and describe the context (knowledge society, information society); to characterize other aspects of pre-school pedagogy (eg antipedagogy, black pedagogy, etc.) and to summarize different concepts of their representatives; describe and identify current trends in research of pre-school education; identify and summarize the impact of family background on child development; describe the factors that influence the kindergarten and family cooperation; propose a plan to support school-family cooperation in addressing a specific problem; identify and describe current domestic and foreign trends in the education of children under three; apply the knowledge of the integration of two-year-olds into kindergarten and propose concrete solutions in kindergarten;
Syllabus
  • 1-2 current concept of education, knowledge society etc. 3-4 Origin and development of antipedagogy. Representatives of antipedagogy and their ideas. Current antipedagogical trends (black pedagogy, unschooling, etc.). 5-6 The actual research in Pedagogy and its development and outcomes in preschool education. 7-8 School self-evaluation and its impact on quality. 9-10 Family and its influence on child development. Family participation in preschool education. Plan to support family and school collaboration in problem solving. 11-12 History and present education of children under three years in the Czech Republic. Specifics of teacher work with children of early age. Education of children under three years in a foreign context and the possibility of including two-year-olds in kindergarten in the Czech Republic.
